An issue on whether it
is better for children to grow up in (among)
rural areas or (and) in big cities gets more and more controversial. Some people
might think that it is more beneficial for children to grow up in big
cities rather than in rural areas. If I have to choose one, I would say
that (growing) raising children in rural
areas is more advantageous. There are a couple of reasons and examples as
follows.
To begin with, living in rural areas
would be more helpful for children to grow healthier. To explain, there are
much healthier and fresher foods in rural
areas so children have a lot of good
opportunities to eat them. Furthermore, rural areas have fresh air, which is rare in urban areas. (gets important more and
more these days) Since many studies have proven
that air pollution has a highly negative impact on children's growth, fresh air is very important. I will take
my personal experience to illustrate my opinion. When I
was 8 years old, I lived in one of the biggest cities in my country,
Seoul, and I had a chronic skin problem. Any doctors did
not know the reason for the disease, and naturally my parents and I could not know how to deal with
it. What I solely did was just taking some medicines;
however, it did not seem to be cured. Finally, we decided to move to (a) countryside
of the city where I could eat healthy foods and breathe fresh air, and we lived
there for 5 years. As a result, my skin problem (has been) was healed without any medicines.
In addition, (growing)
raising children in rural areas is more
likely to generate an educational effect. When it comes to creativity, various experiences
are a must. Living in rural areas naturally allows children to experience the nature around
them. (guarantee first hand
experience such as climbing a mountain, go fishing and so on and it naturally
excite the senses.) To be specific, Children are able to experience so many
things stimulating their curiosity that (would) could
be hardly done in big cities. That means that they can spend more time
doing physical activities in nature and it can improve children's
creativity that is regarded as one of important factors of success. There is a
study which was conducted by a research team at the
Seoul National University. (group of education majors in Seoul national
university and it would be a good example of this.) Researchers monitored
two groups; one group consisted of students who had (ever) lived in rural areas
at least for a few years and the other group was formed of students who had lived
only in big cities. All of them were asked (have) take
tests to measure a level of their creativity. The result was intriguing. The
former group had higher creativity level than
the latter group. The reason for this was that students in the former group had more various experience in
countryside, which helped them to stimulate their curiosity.
To sum up, growing up in rural areas helps
children become healthier. Moreover, it also helps children to have higher level
of creativity. In this regard, I firmly believe that it is much more
advantageous to raise children in rural
areas than in big cities
