▶ Your Answer :
People’s intellectual, social and personal
development are highly influenced by rational thinking. With this
understanding, I believe that studying science and mathematics is more
important rather than studying history and literature for two reasons. This is
because studying science and mathematics enables students to broaden interpersonal
skills and enjoy a better quality of life.
Firstly,
studying science and mathematics makes students to broaden interpersonal
skills. Understanding the daily social environment of students and the
potential role of the learning about science and mathematics is necessary to substantiate
this view. For instance, I engaged in a variety of academic subjects during my
university and graduating school years. In addition to my major, I was
interested in various academic areas such as science and mathematics. I learned
that the importance of technology has been increasing in a modern society, and the
better understanding about science and mathematics is to be more attractive
conversation topic. This was extremely useful in helping me to build interpersonal
skills for later years in society. In one situation, I joyfully continued
talking with my clients who had interest about science and mathematics after
meeting. He was show positive respond to my opinions about scientific knowledge,
which results in remaining enjoyable conversation. Also, my bosses were pleased
to listen to my opinion on current scientific events reported in newspapers. In
this regard, I argue that studying science and mathematics allows students to broaden
their interpersonal skills.
Secondly,
studying science and mathematics makes students to enjoy a better quality of
life. Interestingly, a renowned social scientist in South Korea published an
article in “The Korean Harled” last Tuesday which claims that studying science
and mathematics enables students to strengthen competitiveness in society. The
article argues that the 84 percent of 200 Korean leading recruiters prefer
people who have better understanding about science and mathematics. The
recruiters show a such tendency because they tend to be more creative and analytical
about situation. In the long run, creative thinking and reasonable mindset
enhance work performances. This is because they can effectively handle
unexpected problems in works and find more beneficial solutions, which result
in job promotion and consequently help people to enjoy a better quality of
life. I thought of this report because the results of the survey resonated with
my thoughts.
To
sum up, I believe that it is more important for students to study science and
mathematics than it is for them to study history and literature for the
following reasons: broadening interpersonal skills and enjoying a better
quality of life. Consequently, the importance of my view cannot be
underestimated for the reason I have mentioned.
