Opinions might be divided over whether people should work as quickly as possible even if they could make many mistakes or not. People of various ages and from different walks of life may take diverse positions on this controversial issue. Personally, I agree with the statmement that people do not feel fear to make many mistakes for the following reasons.
To begin with, people can learn something new by wrong something wrong. Humans have the ability to think about why they made a mistake and how they can reduce the number of mistakes they made. By a process of trials and errors, people can realize what the reason was and how they will deal with the same situation in the future. When I was a middle school student, I made so many mistakes in solving mathematics problems. So, I got so much stress because the number of mistakes I made did not seem to be reduced at all. However, I did not give up. I always thought about what the problem was and how I could reduce them. One day, I came up with a best way to cope with the problem. I made a 'mistake note' and whenever I made a mistake, I wrote it down on my mistake note. It was so much effective. After making the note, my academic performance soured greatly. It clearly shows that making many mistakes lets people to grow substantially.
On top of that, we should not struggle not to make a mistake because it is impossible not to make any mistake at all. Humans are imperfect creatures. So, it is natrual to make a mistake anytime. If someone make an effort to work perfectly, they could even make more mistakes. A few weeks ago, I had a chance to read an article which was related to the topic. It described the result of an experiment conducted by Seoul National University psychology researchers with more than 50 random adults. The experiment was that the researcher let two group of people (Group A and B) to do the same job, which was to count the number of coffee beans on a dish. However, people of Group A was said that they would be punished, they would not allow them to go out of the room if they did not count the coffee beans accurately. The researcher, at first, expected that the accuracy of the group who were compelled to count accurately would be much higher than the other group who were not. Surprisingly, the accuracy of Group A was much lower than those of group B. The researcher concluded that the fact that people Group A had to count the coffee beans accurately made them too much concentrate on the task and make much more mistake. It clearly proves that people should not be forced to do a job accurately.
To sum up, people do not have to work slowly and carefully in order not to make a mistake, because by making a mistake, they can not only learn something new, but they can also work their job even more accurately. |
