▶ Your Answer : Contrast to the reading passage, according to the lecture, prarie dogs are not harmful as they seem to other living things. Actually , they seem helpful to the nature.
First, while the passage shows that prarie dogs damage the land, prarie dogs actually prevent erosion of the soil. When the prarie dogs dig holes, it makes the soil more loose, and thus prevent the soil becoming less stable. Which leads plants to grow more easily.
Second, while the passage shows that prarie dogs infect people whith a fatal disease, this is actually not the case. Studies show rather then prarie dogs, rats contaminate people more with fatal diseases such as the plauge. Also, prarie dogs tend to avoid people as much as possible, so its unlikely for prarie dogs to infect people with diseases. Lastly, while the passage shows that prarie dogs have a necative effect on the food supply for livestock, it is said to be not true. Rather, they tend to increase the nutrition of the livestock plants that the cattle eats.
