▶ Your Answer : Some people might think that students should not be given homework on a daily basis. I, however, strongly insist that daily homework is beneficial to students based on the following two reasons. To begin with, regular homeworks increase students’ academic performances. Given the fact that examinations and homeworks are deeply related with the content of the subject, students do not need to cram for the examination, resulting a good academic performance Furthermore, providing that daily homeworks make students to study more on regular basis, they can have spare time to study the contents in depth. From my experience, since no teacher who teaches Korean asked me to do daily homework, I did not try to study Korean grammars or literatures not only during the semesters but also during the vacations. Also, I cram for the examination, resulting a poor academic performance. My English teacher, however, required me to do regular homework everyday. By means of the daily homework, I was able to see the weak points of my English, such as pronunciation, thus being able to enhance my English proficiency dramatically. The result of the examination also got better. On top of that, daily homeworks enhance the quality of teaching. Providing that teachers check their student’s homework every time, they can figure out their students’ pros and cons immediately. In doing so, teachers can employ more or less advanced contents during their class based on the results of the students’ homework, resulting better teaching. For instance, Kim Yeon-a, my best friend, works as a modern Chinese teacher in high school. Since 2010, she read through her students’ daily homeworks every night and realized that her students lacked in listening. Therefore, she decided to allot more time for listening Chinese music during her class. Owing to her efforts, did not only her students’ listening capacity enhance but also her class was nominated as the best Chinese class in 2016. To sum up, daily homeworks increase not only students’ academic performance but also the quality of the class. In this respect, I argue that students should be given homework on daily basis. |
