▶ Your Answer :There might be some people who believe that
children should begin learning a foreign language as soon as they start school.
However, I personally disagree with the idea above for subsequent reasons.
First of all, it will be stressful for children. Second, children should learn
what they want.
First of all, children can be stressed out
by learning a foreign language. To be specific, learning a foreign language
means that it requires lots of studying. For example, there are grammar,
vocabulary, listening and so on. According to a recent survey done by a
institute of health, 80 percent of respondents said that learning a foreign
language can be stressful for children. Most children in Korea study English so
they are stressed out now. Because they have homework every and do not have
time to hang out with their friend. This clearly shows that children should not
begin learning a foreign language as soon as they start school.
Second, children have to learn what they
want. When they learn what they want to know, they can memorize better. If they
study what they do not want, they will not memorize well. Let me bring up my
personal story as an example. When I was 7 years old, I studied Chinese every
weekend because my parents made me learn it. I did not want to learn Chinese
because it is really difficult for me. Therefore, I had problem with memorizing
Chinese and I could not remind Chinese I studied now. If I had studied what I
want, I could remember it until now.
In conclusion, learning a foreign language
will be stressful for children and they should learn what they want. For these
two reasons, I personally believe that children should not begin learning a
foreign language as soon as they start school. |
