▶ Your Answer : It is of great worth to discuss whether Universities should spend as much money on sports as they do on libraries. The answer to this question can greatly vary depending on individual perspective. While some agree with the statement, others might disagree with it. As far as I am concerned, I firmly agree with the statement because of the two reasons below. In this essay, I will explain what I think and why I think in the following paragraph. To begin with, when Universities invest much money on sports, students can improve their academic performance. More convenient recreational facilities in Universities will offer students easy access to exercise, which can reduce their stress about study. This effect is likely to bring about a longer attention span, leading to improve their academic performance. For example, when I was sophomore, I was overwhelmed by enormous assignment. At that time, I did go swimming at the university facility located in between my major building and dormitory. The exercise helped me relive my stress and get energy for studying again. I thought that it was very convenient because I did not have to go out of Universities. If I had to go off campus swimming pool due to the absence of on campus swimming pool, I would not decide to start to swimming. This indicates that university facilities for exercise are beneficial to students for improving their academic performance. In addition, sports facilities can provide students with opportunities to communicate with others. While enjoying swimming in my university, I wanted to learn more systematically about the way of swimming and join one of the swimming clubs. This offered me precious chance to socialize with others having various majors, such as art, music, and media. As a result of that, I could learn about different point of view from others. It was definitely perfect decision for me to start joining the swimming club. To summarize, I strongly believe that investing money on sports facilities in Universities contributes to not only improving students' academic performance but also communicating with others because of the reasons I mentioned above. |
