▶ Your Answer : Some people think that buying foreign items is better than buying domestic ones. However, in my opinion, it is more beneficial to buy local products for two reasons. First of all, it will be helpful to domestic industries. In addition, foreign products are hard to get after service domestically.
To begin with, purchasing local goods is beneficial for domestic businesses. This is because people’s consumptions are deeply related with their profits. If people buy foreign products only, it will prevent local industries from developing. For example, in the early 2000s, there was enormous boom about foreign goods in Korea. According to the survey conducted by Korean research department, about 80 percent of Korean reported that they preferred products produced by international companies and tried to purchase them. As a result, many domestic industries went through slumps and took much time to overcome this tough period. If Koreans had cared more about their companies, they would not have gone through a hard time.
On top on that, it is not easy to use after service when people purchase international goods. Foreign companies have only few service centers abroad, which means local people do not have enough service centers to get after service. For example, my father bought a foreign car about 5 years ago. Unfortunately, his car had a problem with doors but he did not know where he should request after service because the company had few service centers in Korea. Consequently, he spent one month to repair his car and during this time, he could not use the car at all. On the other hand, my mother spent only two days to fix her car, when she had a car accident, because it was made in Korea and the company had a number of service centers domestically.
To sum up, buying local products benefits local companies and people can use after service readily. In this regard, I believe that purchasing domestic goods are better than purchasing foreign ones. |
