▶ Your Answer : Some people argue that people who gain high income should be obliged to give away to charities to help others. However, I disagree with their assertion because when donation becomes mandatory, it will be stressful for those who have to pay a large amount of money. Also, the idea that "high income earners" have to pay more to support the society is very vague.
First, high income earners often earn money that they deserve, depending on how much they are educated and skilled. It will be very stressful for those of high income earners if they are forced to pay to charities. These stress does not only mean that the majority will be against the policy, but they would also find ways to avoid this. This theory can also be noted in economics. When the government forces those of upper class to pay more money in order to reduce the disparity between the rich and the poor, rich people would find illegal ways to avoid getting to pay. This would create new problems that will be more harder to solve.
Second, the distinction between high income earners and low income earners is very vague. Some of the people may earn the same amount of money but still be poor as they have to pay interests and also support their children. Once the society decides to force everyone to pay for the charities, this may negatively influence some of the people who are in the middle class. I personally believe that it would be better to let people choose between giving away to charities and to do a short volunteer work instead. I believe that there needs a more concrete policy so that everyone can help each other.
The statements above explain why I oppose the given phrase "The more money a person has, the more he or she should give away to charities".
