▶ Your Answer : Universities often financially support
their students. We can find many kinds of scholarships that are granted to students.
However, there are still a lot of promising students who are not benefited from
scholarships, even if some of them are struggling with financial burden from
tuition they have to pay. Do universities provide free-tuition for all
qualified students? I believe they should do.
To
begin with, as higher educational institution, universities have to meet their
responsibility-to provide education opportunities to the students who are fully
qualified. Every year, not small per cents of students drop out of their school
because of tuition burden. This is to say, universities deprived the students
of opportunities to learn. In my country, one newspaper has interviewed students
who dropped out of top national research university. The students’ main reason
of dropping out was financial burden of tuition. They were all eager to learn
something new, however the university blocked them simply because they could
not afford to pay tuition.
On
top of that, granting free tuition to students can be considered long-term
investment for universities. Admittedly, providing free tuition to all
qualified students can deteriorate universities’ financial status, because it
could be a huge expenditure for universities at the moment. However, we should
not overlook students’ potential. One of them could be a great scholar or could
be a founder of a big innovative company like Apple or Microsoft. They will
repay a debt-free tuition they were provided-by means of increasing the
universities fame or giving patronage. For universities, to construct more
infrastructures or to support professors’ research is not the only way to
invest. Sometimes, they need to invest for future-the possibilities of
students.
To
conclude, I think universities must provide free tuition to all qualified
students, to meet their responsibility and to invest for their future. |
