▶ Your Answer : - In our society, a person can be considered as a hero who succeed in his own field. I agree with the statement that it is no longer possible for a society to regard as living man or woman as a hero. Critics would assert that nowadays many public figures that are famous and widely respected can still exist because the readers of today can distinguish between right and wrong in spite of the intensive media coverage. I concede that to a certain extent, today’s people can tell a real hero. However, it is obvious that once reputation of any famous heroes slandered, especially by today’s media scrutiny, it will be forever tarnished. In addition, media hamper them from being a hero since today’s media provides intriguing information such as hero’s scandal to promote their sales,
Unlike the past, when a person’s reputation is besmirched by a media regardless of that person’s merits and achievements, his image will never be immaculate again. To illusrate, in the political field, many considered Bill Clinton as a distinguished figure as he revitalized the United States economy and implemented a health care policy for minorities. During this time, many citizens have put Clinton on a pedestal. However, his scandal with his White House intern Monical Lewinsky was disclosed and his reputation was defamed. It would now be difficult to state ethat he is a hero due to the intensive media coverage. Furthermore, to gain maximum profit, a media reveals information about misdeeds and misfortunes of others rather than their virtues and accomplishments. For instance, even in sports, Tiger Woods is known as one of the most prominet golfers in the world. He has been in the spotlight for many years as he continuously won many competitions. However, after his relationships with multiple women were revealed, it has taken a toll on him. Unlike the past, now media places extreme weight on such faults and mistakes. Thus, nowadays finding heroes would be an arduous task. In summary, it is no longer possible to have heroes. Therefore, we must take extensive measures to maximize strengths and minimize weaknesses of people. |
