It is of great worth to discuss whether
or not children should choose jobs that are related to their parent's jobs than
different from their parent's jobs. While some people might agree with the
statement, others might disagree with it. As far as I am concerned, I agree
with the notion that it is better for children to engage in fields that are
similar to their parent's fields for the following reasons.
First of all, choosing a similar career
encourages children to gather together. The fundamental reason is that a
problem that have to face in a similar field can be a good topic of
conversation. Also, the conversation can strengthen the parent-children bond by
bringing busy children together in one place and
create a comfortable atmosphere which promotes interaction among family. Thus,
people have a good time with loved ones. For example, I and my father who are
always busily occupied with design of machines come together every evening in
order to share opinion about similar challenges. My father can easily start and
become engaged in a lively conversation because he already has frustrations and
wisdoms of similar chores before. Through talking about it, I feel closest to
my father.
Moreover, choosing a similar career is
directly correlated to success in the field. This is mainly because children
can inherit the parents’ knowledge and skills of their
field which helps them to develop expertise in the career. As the modern
society has become increasingly specialized, today’s
companies are looking for employees having such qualities. Therefore, these are
important to fight for jobs in highly competitive labor markets. A few weeks
ago, I had a chance to read an op-en piece that was related to the topic. It
described the result of a survey conducted by Seoul National University in
2015. In the survey, the employment interview was the important comment in
hiring practice, taking up more than 70 percent of the final call. The
interviewers looked at applicant’s specialized knowledge
and skills mostly related to the field. This implies that having a similar job
is a secure way for children to prepare for the future.
To sum up, Iit is a good way for children to get a job that is
similar to their parents’ job because of relationship
between parents and children and success in the career. For these reasons, I
strongly agree with the statement that children should choose jobs that are
related to their parents’s jobs.
