▶ Your Answer : Some people argue that children should play sports for competition not for fun. However, I have a different idea. I think that it is better for students to enjoy sports not to compete with others.
First of all, if students play sports game for competition, they will be very stressed out. To be specific, nowadays, students live in competitive world. This is because, they always compete with other students for getting a good grade, so they study until at night everyday. This is why, students really need some time to refresh themselves such as playing soccer with their friends. Playing sports for fun not for competition is possible them to relieve their stress and forget about all the worries coming from study. There is an example supporting this idea. My nephew who is 11 years old is an elementary school student in South Korea. Recently, I had a chance to hear about his daily schedule from his mother. Until then I did not know that he usually comes home around 10 at night. During the weekdays, he attends a private educational center after his school for English and Chinese lessons, and he also takes piano lessons from another place. His mother said that his schedule is a very typical one compared to others.
Also, when students play sports for fun, they can make lots of new friends. In other words, it is a good chance to get to know people with same interest, so they are able to socialize with others and build stronger relationship with their friends. If they compete with others for gaining a victory, they will make lots of friends. This is because by competing with the other team, they do not mix well each others and loser team might feel bad. However, when they play sports for fun, they can easily socialize with others, regardless of teams. Take my personal experience, for example, when I was a high school students, in my school, there was a field day annually. In my class, there was no one who was good at exercise, so we decided to just enjoy the event. We won a victory in only one games and lost other games, but we were happy. This is because, we were not very competitive, so we can build stronger relationship with our team and other teams with out without hurting others.
To sum up, I suggest students should play sports games for fun not for competition, because if they do so, they would be able to make lots of friends and relieve their stress. |
