Undoubtedly,
investment plays a significant role in people’s daily lives in many of the
places where they work or play. Some people think that the governments should
invest more in supporting art museums and music performances than recreational
facilities such as paly grounds or public swimming pool, while others do not.
Both sides may have their own reasons to support their views. If I had to
choose one, I would say that the investment of recreational facilities is more
important than that of art museums and music performances. There are several
reasons as follows.
To
begin with, if the government spends money on recreational facilities, then children
can improve their sense of responsibility. Taking exercise requires many
obligations such as managing time, abiding by rules and respecting others. When
these obligations are fulfilled, it is likely to bring about a better result.
For example, my youngest brother used to be lazy and selfish. However, he has
changed little by little after he started playing a soccer every Sunday with
his friends. He realized his punctuality could help him mingle with others more
easily while his laziness could negatively affect everyone. Naturally, he
became more prompt with time, played his part better and even encouraged others
to be more responsible. Without this experience, he would still have been
irresponsible.
On
top of that, if people do moderate exercise through various recreational
facilities thanks to the government, it will help them improve their physical
health. When they exercise and sweat, their bodies generate more white blood
cells. An increase in white blood cells is likely to strengthen their immune system.
For example, Seoul National University found a huge difference between two
groups of young adults. One group consisted of those who spent more than two
hours a week exercising, and the other group was made up of those who did not.
The researchers found that the former was more likely to have higher resistance
to diseases than the latter. In particular, many of the first group had normal
weight without serious illness. On the other hand, most of the second group
tended to be overweight and develop various adult diseases such as diabetes,
fatty liver disease and hypertension. This implies that moderate exercise is
the key to physical health.
All things considered, I strongly believe that the advantages
of recreational facilities far outweigh those of facilities for art for the reasons I have mentioned above. All in
all, the importance of exercise cannot be overestimated in life.
