Various opinions may exists over the argument that parents should not allow
their children to watch television so that they can do well at school. As far as I am concerned, I am in complete disagreement
with the statement. The two ideas below stated can be valid evidences to support my view.
First, watching TV enables
children to learn more and discover interesting facts because there is are a lot of useful programs
like EBS or National Geography. Nowadays, people are living in a world of
meritocracy where only extremely talented people can survive. Consequently,
people suffered are suffering physically
and mentally with tight schedules and highly competitive environments. In the
long run, they cannot but miss chances to delve into numerous issues for
self-improvement. This explains why it is better for students to watch various
TV programs in honing potentials. According to a
survey conducted by Seoul National University of Korea, most of the respondents
answered that they can find their aptitudes by watching TV and that if there was were
no chances to watch the TV, they might
have been hindered by from finding their
interests and cultivates it cultivating them.
Therefore, watching TV is advantageous to children;
so the parents should permit children to watch
tching the TV.
Moreover, students can find
emotional relief by watching TV since it is effective for boosting people’s moods. Today, many people are weary with so much
stress. By watching TV, however, they can temporarily forget about their
problems and gain some breathing space. In this respect, watching TV is a great
means of invigorating their minds. My personal experience can be used to prove
this point. Every morning, I have to get through traffic congestion to go to
school. To make matters worse, I am get exhausted
through coping with my teachers and classmates.
Hence, as a way to relieve my stress I sometimes watch movies through
that are broadcasted by channel OCN. Even if it
is only for a short time, my feelings become relaxed, and I am no longer
thinking about the demanding requests at school. Indeed, I am able to alleviate
my tension by watching action movies. Therefore, parents should allow their
children to watch watching TV.
As explicitly and
logically elaborated above, I disagree with the argument that parents should
not allow their children to watch TV, firmly believing that watching TV for
children will be helpful in the long run.
