Some people believe that it is not more important to keep our old
friends than it is to make new friends. However, in my opinion, it is more
important to keep my old friends than it is to make new friends. This is
because old friends can help me more than new friends and actually, it is a
heavy pressure to make new friends.
To
begin with, old friends can help me more efficiently. To be specific, because
old friends know me accurately, they easily know what I want and what I need,
and they can give it to me. For example, when I was a high school student, I
was in a basketball club with my middle school friends. We were actually not
good at basketball compared to other same age students in the club. However,
our teamwork was pretty good. So, when we were in a competition, even though
our individual abilities and skills could not be compared to other competitors,
we always won. The key point was in our team play that nobody could not follow
our play. We knew each other, what others want and what others need. So, it
made us a great team which always won. It describes that anything could not exceed
old friendship.
On
top of that, actually, making new friends could be hard work. This is because
when we meet strangers and we should be their friends, then we should go
through some steps from the start and It spends a lot of our energy and time.
But if we just stay with our old friends, then it is not needed. For example,
one of my friends should move to new work for some reasons. Obviously, people in
the work thought him as a stranger and they also felt awkward when they were
with him. Being friends with each other is really hard for them because they
did not have any intersection. So, their conversation was frequently stopped and
tries to be closer usually end in failure. Eventually, they did not share any
communication and my friends quitted the job. For him, making new friends in the
new space was harder work than just doing his work.
To
sum up, I believe that old friends are more helpful for me and sometimes, it is
pressure to make new friends. In this regard, I agree that it is more important
to keep my old friends than it is to make new friends.
