Although
some people might think that it is beneficial to control the children with
strict rules, I disagree with it because it may be more harm than
good. There're several ideas to support my opinion, as follows.
To begin
with, setting rigid rules may take out of children's ability to
decide themselves. Children should need to learn how to manage their life after
the independence from parents, but just by following the given rules, it
is nearly impossible to build this kind of capacity. As parents are not able to
take care of their kids for a long time, it seems more better off to teach them
how to design and choose their daily plan, lifestyle or future. For instance,
one of my friends has grown up under the rigid rules. He had to obey numerous
disciplines such as always do the homework before, hang out with friends who
have good score and decent manner, or apply to the Department of Business.
These kind of regulations or expectations of his family made him have hard time
in university, where students are required to make significant decisions on
their own. Therefore, I think this example effectively shows the drawbacks of
strict rules.
Next, regulations influence
children to form obedient behavior patterns, which seems not very helpful to
achieve successful life. To be specific, in these days, people who enjoy challenges
and have different point of view from others tend to reach success more easily.
The attitude not to blindly go after the society’s norms and some kind of
proper way of thinking is the key factor to reach fame and reputation. In this
point of view, parents should not constrain their child into the specific frame
they think is desirable. According to the research at Seoul National
University, more than 70 percent of the respondents replied that they became
less likely to take risks and get opportunities because of their childhood
backgrounds. This result implies that as childhood experience largely affect to
their remaining days, it is crucial not to suppress children too hard.
To conclude, controlling
children’s entire life with lots of rules may prevent them to have a successful
life. This is because lots of rules hinder children to develop self-deciding
ability and make their characteristic distant from accomplishing success.
