There might be some people who believe that
parents today can understand their children as well as parents did 5 decades ago. However, I personally disagree with the above
idea for two subsequent reasons. First, technology created a generation gap between parents and their children.
Second, children today do not have enough time to converse with their parents.
To begin with, a generation gap was made by
developing technology. Over the past few decades, a variety of communication mediums like SNS and smart phone’s applications
have been introduced, all of which was were
much more used by children than their parents.
However, 50 years ago, it was much easier for parents
to connect with their children because there were not a
lot of these lots of options. Let me bring up my personal story
as an example. When I kept in touch with my friends by using SNS, my mother did
not understand why I did this. If the technology had not existed these days, my
mother could have more comprehendsed
me than the present.
In addition, there is not enough time for
children to talk with their parents. This is
because their life lives are so busy to
survive in the competitiveness of today’s society.
As a result, since they have a hectic schedule, there is no time for their
parents to talk to them and learn
about their lifestyle. According to a research
done by Korea university, the average children spends time talking with his
parents for less than 30 minutes every one
week. Students nowadays should concentrate on their
academic course. Good grades will help them get into a
good university and eventually, get a great job.
This is clearly shows that busy lives of
today’s children prevents them from
having quality time with their parents.
In
conclusion, technology has made a generation gap
and children today are so busy. In this regard, I strongly agree that parents
today do not understand their children likewise parents did fifty years
ago.
