▶ Your Answer : There might be some people who believe that the only thing to understand world events is to read newspaper. This is because that a television does not provide enough information. However, I personally disagree with the above idea for two subsequent reasons. Firstly, reading newspaper is too boring. Also, televised news helps people to understand the contents.
To begin with, most people are bored to read newspapers. The reason is that it is not fun. Unlike newspapers, televised news is more interesting because they provide people with lots of visual and auditory reference. Let me bring up my personal story as an example. When I was in high school, I was reluctant to read something. However, televised news attracted my visual and auditory sense to focus on the contents. As a result, I ended up understanding various world events through the news. If I read newspapers, I would give up getting information because I would be sick and tired of reading.
In addition, I could understand world events more easily through the news. Televised news provides summarized information because they have limited time to broadcast. Therefore, people can clearly understand the knowledge. It means nothing if people could not understand the contents. According to a recent survey done by Korea university professor Kim, 80% respondents said that they could realize easily when they acquired information through televised news rather than newspapers. This is due to the fact that news summarizes events to understand easily. This clearly shows that people could get enough information through the news.
In conclusion, televised news helps people to understand world events by means of not only the visual and auditory senses but also summarizing. In this regard, I would like to urge people to wake up from the illusion that people should read newspapers to understand world events.
