Some people think that parents should
prohibit that children watch television to make them study harder. However, in
my opinion I think that if parent is selective in how much time children watch
television, it could also encourage children to study harder. This is because
we are able to relieve stress by watching it and there are myriad educative
programs in television. To begin with, watching television makes children
reduce stress. And if there are strict regulation on watching time, it would
promote to study harder. For example, when I was in high school, I liked
watching TV show. And it made me laugh and relieve my stress. However, since I
had a lot of school works and club activities, my parent prevent me from
watching TV to make me get a better academic reward. But it was not effective
because I was not mentally healthy after getting rid of watching TV. As a
result, my parent allowed me watching it 2 hours per day after finishing my
homework. Afterward it made me motivate to study harder and I got a better
grade since I can get out of my stress through TV show.
On top of that, there are a lot of
educative programs. Also moving contents make student understand easier and
attract them to study fun. For instant, EBS which is representative of Korea education
broadcasting runs myriad kinds of historical documentaries. According to the
research conducted by EBS said that the people who answered that program broadcasted
by EBS was effective for studying history were 70%. In addition, since it demonstrated
historical issue by using moving contents, student would be able to understand
better about things and easier contents would increase student's ineterests about historical events
To sum up I firmly believed that watching
television make student relieve stress and give them academic knowledge. In
this regard I support the idea that parent should not avoid letting student
watch television to prompt them study harder.
