Some people think that the
students learn more efficiently when they do their assignments alone. However,
in my opinion, it is helpful for students to work on projects with other
students for two reasons. First of all, students can improve their cooperation.
In addition, they can learn about many issues for in a short time.
To begin
with, students can enhance cooperation when they work on group assignments.
This is because they can share their opinions with friends and learn how to
respect others’ perspectives. Furthermore, it can help students work better at
their future jobs because there are many projects which need cooperation with
other peers. For example, according to the survey conducted by UCLA’s research
department, about 80 percent of participants reported that they learned how to
work harmoniously with others when they did group assignments. They also
mentioned that they had no problems working together at the jobs because they
already knew how to cooperate.
On top
of that, working together is beneficial because students can learn many issues
at once. With group assignments, students can divide a project into parts and
teach what they studied to each other. For
instance, when I was in high school, I received a group assignment. My group
members and I decided to separate parts to study because our group had to study
so many things. We gathered together after studying each part alone and taught each other what we had studied. As a result, we could
learn many things for in a short period
of time. Consequently, it was so efficient because it helped us save so much
time.
To sum up, students can learn how to work with friends and build knowledge
about many issues at once. In this regard, I believe that it is better to work
together rather than do an assignment alone.
