There might be some
people who think that people should look for information from one source to be
well-informed. However, I personally disagree with the idea for the two
subsequent reasons.
To begin with, people can
get more accurate information by using multiple news sources. If we only use
one new source to get information, it would be more likely for us to get wrong
information. Let me talk about my personal story
as an example. A few years ago, I planned a trip to Europe. At that time, I
wanted to know the weather condition in Europe, so that I could bring the right
clothes. So I looked up the internet and it said the weather in Europe would be
mostly hot. However, as soon as I arrived there, I realized that the weather was much colder than I thought. If I
checked different information resources such as the newspaper, I would be have been able to bring appropriate clothes.
In addition, if we use
only one news sources, it is more likely for us to get biased information
as each information sources tends to have
their its own views on certain topics.
There was a research conducted by Korea University as with 50 different newspapers as a sample. The purpose
of the research was to find out how differently each newspapers reported on the same issue. The result was overwhelming.
Every 50 newspapers newspaper reported on
the same issue based on completely different points
of view. This result shows that media tends to reports issues based on
their own perspectives.
In conclusion,
if we get information from one source, there would be higher possibilities for
us to get wrong and biased information. In this regards, I think people
should rely on a variety of new sources to be well-informed.
