To be a successful leader, what do we have to do at
first? Some people would talk about leadership, or intellect. However, in my
opinion, I would like to highlight the importance of admitting the
mistakes to be a leader since accepting the
mistakes can be, in other words, another
possible chance to analyze and to find the optimal choice toward success.
Accepting one's failure is very crucial as people can take some time for
introspection and stop to look at the drawbacks that they committed in the
past. This action should not be neglected and is to be done by the leaders as
well. In the 21st century, a lot of people try to maximize their profits and
have been solely taking the speed into consideration. For the sake of the
future of the company or organization where the leaders are taking care of and also for the rest of the member of the groups, the
leaders will have to be responsible about their mistakes when they made make some errors. Imagine if leaders of the
companies or the societies do not care about the feedback when they execute
their projects or make some policies. The
outcome would be obviously terrible. They will probably repeat what they did in
the past. Take a good example of Mitsubishi. In the 1990s, right after the time
when the economy of Japan, which prospered in the 1980s, has had collapsed, Mitsubishi had faced some
serious problems with the trade contracts with Canada and the United States.
This happened because the headquarters of Mitsubishi at this time did not
expect such situation would to happen, and
the company was on the brink of bankruptcy. However, in spite of criticism from
the mass media, the corporation survived, thanks to the company's introspection
and fast feedback to the situation. After 20 years, nowadays, the company is
one of the financially strong companies in the world and their case has been
researched by many who study business strategy. For this reason, I believe that
facing the mistakes is the best way to
succeed in a long term.
To sum up, I believe that being responsible for the committed errors in the
past must be revised and accepted as this kind of action can be a
fundamental pillar for the better future.
