▶ Your Answer :
In our current
society, watching movie plays a crucial role in many people’s lives in many places
where they work or play. Some people believe that watching movies that is
entertaining or funny is better than movies that deal with serious issues,
while others do not. Both sides may have their reasons to support their views.
On the other hand, if I had to choose one, I would say that movies that cope
with severe issues have more advantages than movies that contain comedy or
entertainment factors. There are several reasons as follows.
To begin with, the
students who watch the movies which handle with serious topics can improve
their academic performance. Movies related to the social issues can contribute
to improve attentions toward major problem in specific sectors such as economy,
sociology, and history. When the students have an attention to these issues,
they are likely to enhance their attention about these problems and study
specific sectors harder than before. For example, when my younger sister was in
a high school, her sociology grade was not very good. However, after watching
the movie related to the social issue, she gave more attention on the social
issues and intrigued in the sociology class. Her grade has changed little by
little, and she got a top position in the sociology class. This implies that
watching movies that deal with important issues have positively impact on her
academic performance. Without watching these movies, she might not accomplish
the increase of her grade.
In addition,
watching movies that cope with major issue on the society can contribute to
solve problems such as global warming, world terrorists, and discrimination
against race. When people are interested in these kinds of movies, they have an
effort to make solutions on these issues. This trend will bring a better result
in many parts of world. For instance, Stanford University found a huge
difference between two groups of young adults. One group was composed of those
who spend their time watching movies related to the social issues, and the
other group consisted of those who spent their time watching comedy movies.
Compared to the latter group, the researcher found that the first group
actively participated in the social movement for improving standard of living. On
the other hand, the second group didn’t tend to attend those activities and didn’t
have attention on the social issues. This indicates that watching movies that
is correlated with major problems is better than watching entertainment movie
on many grounds.
As I mentioned
above, I firmly believe that it is better to watch movies on serious problems
than to watch funny movies for improving one’s performance, paying more
attention to social problems, and so on. All in all, this trend should be
continued and passed down to the next generations. |
