Some people think that the
news media provides the truth information so that citizens do not need to ask a
question about it. However, in my opinion, people should ask themselves after
getting the information from news media because could be biased by the corporation
or the government.
To begin with, the news
provided by the media can be manipulated by the corporation. In fact, each
company has their own political color and also is related to politics. So the
political news given by specific company might be biased to their own color.
For instance, recently in Korea, there was a big event related to the president.
However, the media with company A showed the event as if the event is not
president’s fault and the
president doesn’t even know what happened.
However, the other media which is in company B told citizens that this event
is controlled by the president.
On top of that, the news can
also be manipulated by the government. There would be a specific event that
results in a lot loss for the government if the news shows the true
information. So the government would eventually manipulate the news to prevent
the loss. To be more specific, when I was in Beijing, China, in summer, it was
really hot that I could not even walk on the street. However, the news from one
of China’s media
continuously told us the degree of temperature is 39. I found the
truth later that it was above 40, and the reason the media told us a wrong
temperature is that all the activities like working in a company, or going to
school will be stopped if the temperature is above 40 in China. And it would give
a lot of economical loss in government’s point of view.
To sum up, the news media
can provide us a biased information by the corporation or the government because
of political issue or to hide the truth. In this regard, I strongly believe the
news media is not a reliable source. |
