The issue of
whether free college education is offered all students by a government is a
controversial one. Some people may argue that governments should make a huge
investment to provide free college education, while others say that such
investment will be a waste of money. I agree so far as free college education
may decrease the inequality between students and make fair education system.
However, sometimes free education may be unnecessary for some students and
prevent to offer quality education. Therefore, governments should focus on
improving scholarship system, end then the scholarship would ensure motivated
students to have an equal opportunity for learning.
Admittedly,
university free education would eliminate the financial disparity between
students who live a different region and have a particular background. It is
unfair that high tuition fees occlude students to learn higher education in a
university. Unfortunately, many students have difficulties due to the high
tuition fee during their university student period. Availability and quality of
education should not be limited to the rich and privileged. In Korea, for
example, a lot of students have to borrow money in order to pay a tuition fee.
Also, they cannot focus on their study because they must spend time doing a
part-time job in order to obtain money. If college education is free to all
students, students can escape such a burdensome work and concentrate on
learning and develop their talents and skills.
However, the free
education sometimes be unnecessary for some students who does not hold
particular desire of learning high education and obstacle to ensure quality
education. To be specific, some student may want to gain a job right after
graduate high school, and then they do not need a college degree for work. However,
free college education could promote students to believe that a college degree
is material to live as a well-balanced person and get a job. Primary education
is surely necessary for everyone to function in society, but a higher education
is not a must for everybody. In this case, the investment for students who unwanted
college education would become the result of a waste of money and time.
Furthermore, if too many students are converged to a specific university, the
university cannot provide qualified education for every student since the
number of faculty and the university fund are limited. This situation could make
lose the chance to raise more ingenious and fervid students.
In conclusion, although
free education could eliminate the disparity between students and the
motivation of free education is very revered, I believe that free education
will be a waste of money and time for some students. However, I agree so far it
is important to increase education investment to expand scholarship for more
students who have high motivation and passion for learning. |
