Some people think that the news media are
objective and unbiased. However, in my opinion, they can be biased and
unreliable often and easily. It’s because they are deliver facts to us with their own
effect and they are not free from money and power.
To begin with, every media are means that
deliver information. In the process that someone delivers somethings,
variations are made inevitably by the deliverer. So each media has different contents
about same events, and because of this reason we should have critical views to
the news and don’t trust them entirely. For example, some press say “A attacked
B brutally.”, while others say “A respond to B with military force unavoidably.”
about the same event. So, indeed many journalism experts recommend to watch
several different news media to know about events accurately. This prove that
they are a lot of variations which the news media create.
On top of that, press are company and
company should seek profits. So they are adjusted by who has lots of money like any other company. Major company and politicians can affect directly
press’s profits. So, if they put pressure on the media, the news which they
serve is compelled to be changed to their advantage. For instance, they are a
lot of cases which company limited the news which try to reveal their faults.
Sometimes they are uncovered and get punished for fabricating the media, but
most are not discovered and not punished. We can easily access to cases which
the news media conceal political issues with the coverage of celebrity’s
gossips. For these reasons we should try to know more than the news media
serves.
To sum up, the news media is never a fair
and unconditional media because information must be changed with deliver process
and press is affected by a lot of money and power. In this regard I think
public should doubt the news media, not easily accept what they provide.
