▶ Topic : Both the lecturer and the reading passage discuss Etruscan civilization. The lecturer, however, casts doubt on the reading passage's assertion that the Etruscans migrated from Turkey, by presenting three compelling counter-arguments.
First, the lecturer asserts that ancient DNA, as an evidence to show that Etruscans came from Turkey, is controversial. This is because ancient DNA over the past thousands of years could be damaged and also be contaminated by numerous people. This opposes the author's claim that DNA evidence shows the link between the Etruscans and the Turks.
Second, the lecturer claims that language used by Etruscans is from Turkey would be disputable. He says that many languages have similar alphabets and the fact that Etruscans use alphabets cannot be a reliable evidence. This counters the author's claim that Etruscan alphabet is Turkish origin.
Lastly, the lecturer says that the link between Turks and Etruscans by sharing the same funerary practices is hard to believe. Archeologists found out that the practice of cremation began even before the Etruscans were around. Therefore, Etruscans would be the successors of the local region and not the Turks. This contradicts the author's claim that Turks and Etruscans is found in shared funeral practices. 이번 리스닝, 너무 어렵네요... 항상 감사드려요! |
