▶ Your Answer :
There might be some people who believe that
it is better to specialize in one specific subject that to have broad knowledge
of many academic subjects. However, I personally disagree with the above idea
for two subsequent reasons. First, having broad knowledge of many academic
subjects is more benefits to our lives. Second, specializing in one specific
subject give people biased thoughts.
Firstly, it is more beneficial for people
to have broad knowledge of many academic subjects. To be specific, today's people
are under a lot of stress due to the many choices that they have to decide. If
they have broad knowledge, they can easily make wise decisions. However, people
specialized in one specific subject cannot make wise decisions except one
specific subject. Let me bring up my personal story as an example. When I was a
freshman in university, I had to take other major lectures because of my
university policy. So I took class about economics although my major was
mathematics. I was really hard to study economics at first. However, time went
by, it was not only really interesting for me but also helped me to decide to
choose various economics problems.
Secondly, people who specialize in one
specific subject have biased thoughts. This is because they have hardly
opportunity to think various subjects. They only have to think their specific
subject all day. Let me bring up my sister's personal story as an example. She
is a famous pianist. So she knows everything about piano and music. As she has
played the piano every day since she was 5 years old, she thinks that piano is
best instrument in the world. She ignores subjects of other area and maintains
that all people should learn piano.
In conclusion, having broad knowledge of
many academic subjects is not only practical but also gives people unbiased thoughts.
In the regard, I strongly agree with the statement that it is better to have
broad knowledge of many academic subjects than to specialize in one specific
subject.
