▶ Your Answer : As we have entered the 21st
century, many things have changed, and the
issue of whether to live with the family or on your own is one of these changes. Personally,
I think that it is better to gain independence
from the parents as soon as possible since it not only hastens the process of
becoming mature, but also teaches a person
to be sophisticated about the world he or she lives in.
One reason I believe that being independent from
parents as early as
possible is a better choice is because it makes the person to
be matured. Living on your own is never
an easy thing, but you can gradually learn to
handle all the things that your parents have
done for you. A school of knocks, that is called. Also, there is
statistical evidence from Singapore which says that on average, those who lived
alone tended to control their emotions with ease and get their jobs done in
time than those who were living with their family. The reason, according
to the research, was because they were exposed to difficult real-life situations
more than those living with their family.
Another reason why I prefer the
choice of living on his or her own is that the person becomes sophisticated.
When you live alone, you have to do everything on your own. In this way, you are able to deal with various kinds of people with diverse
background and different personalities. This teaches young adults how
to react and respond to the others appropriately and turns them into
someone entirely different from the naive young kids that they once were. This
is proven by a research from Canada which reported that the subjects who lived
with their families were more gullible and got tricked easily than those who
lived without their families. It said that among 300 hundred subjects who
have participated in the experiment, those who answered “lives with the family”
showed the tendency to struggle in troublesome, real-life situations.
To sum up, I think that living alone is a much better choice than that of
living with one's family. The reasons, as demonstrated above, are that it makes
the person mature and sophisticated. So, I conclude that it is better to stand on one's own bottom from parents than
living with the family.
