Attitudes conflict on where the
local government should spend less money among the police, libraries and public
transportation. I stand for proponents of the view that the government should
spend less money on libraries. First, students are too busy
to spend time in libraries. Second, more public
transportation can reduce global warming.
Fundamentally, not
many students go to libraries nowadays because of their busy
life. The opposing side argues that the government should spend more money on
libraries. Advocates of this school of thought raise several arguments as the
basis for their beliefs. While their argumentation may appear
valid on the surface, it does not withstand vigorous scrutiny. Actually, a
flood of evidence renders their views erroneous. For instance, my
particular observation reveals why government should spend less money on
libraries. When I was a high school student, I took private tutoring
after school because most students went to either math, science
academies or took private tutorings. It was because public school
educations were not sufficient to fulfill the requirements
of college enterance exams. On weekends, I participated
in volunteering because 100 hours of volunteering experiences were
required to students to graduate high school. When I became 3rd grade, it was
necessary to study at school even on weekedns. After I graduated high
school and became college student, life got more busy due to the fact that job
market is extremely competitive, had no time to visit libraries. This support
the thesis that government should spend less money on libraries.
In the second place, we should
improve public transportation to cope with global warming. Beyond my personal
experience, current research substantiates my perspective. Apart from a small
portion of people who sided with the opposite idea, a significant majority of
survey participants endorsed my point of view that more money should be spent
on public transportation not libraries. An environmental activist said in the
interview that natural disasters caused by global warming have taken a
significant toll on our health and economy. He added that people should drive
less since the main cause of global warming is carbon emissions from cars. An
expert explained that if more money is invested in busses and trains, people
will use public transportation more instead of driving their own cars. Such
notions attest that we should not spend less on public transportation.
Ultimately, less money should be spent on libraries
for the evidence I have provided previously. First and foremost, it is hard for
students to go to libraries since they are too busy. Last but not least, we
should improve public transportation to cope with global warming.
