There has been an
argument regarding the issue of whether people have easily having easy access to a lot of information creating
creates problems or not. Some people maintain
that it is good for people to have a lot of information. However, from my
perspectives, I would say that having a lot of information is able to make some
problems. There are two reasons to support my
ideas.
To begin with,
when people get information on the internet such as personal blogs, they would
obtain biased information. Individuals have their own views, beliefs, and
values. When these knowledges are conveyed to readers, they are likely to form
a skewed ideas of certain points. As a case in point, when I was in high
school, I had a foreign friend who came from Ethiopia. I often felt
uncomfortable with him after seeing that some blogger wrote down the contents
that Ethiopian are dirty, lazy, and primitive because of their habit of eating meals
with bare hands. So I kept some distance from him and sometimes made fun of
him. However, after traveling to Africa last year, I exactly got to know their
culture. I realized that they just have their own culture, and that they’re not dirty, and lazy. In fact, they
tended to be diligent, passionate, and always respect
others. Nowadays, I no longer feel awkward and keep in touch with people I met
in Africa. If I kept on thinking about them
based on the Internet, I would not have been be
able to get accurate information about them.
In addition,
Commercial information on the Internet lures people to buy their product
regardless of their necessity. As the modern
society is becoming competitive, sellers provide a lot of information on the
Internet such as cheating, faking, and exaggerating advertisement. Such
information tended tend to prevent people
from choosing proper items. For instance, many research teams, including the Seoul Research Center, analyzed the
data from the two groups of young adults. One group consisted of those
who spend spent more than two hours a day
watching various commercial advertisements, and
the other group was made up of those who did not have
access to the bad information. The researchers found that the former was more
likely to spend a lot of money on impulse. In fact, the first group showed
lower levels of satisfaction, a higher consume
propensity and even frequently wanted to refund, while the second group tended
to use their products longer, and have a happiness be happy with their decision. This implies that when
people are exposed
to too much information, they would be able
to choose bad items. Such an example clearly depicts that too much information too much should not be
allowed.
In a nutshell, my
contention is that providing a lot of information have has negative effects on people. This is because of
getting inaccurate information and choosing bad products. All in all, the
importance of contacting accessing moderate
amounts of information cannot be overestimated.
