In our current society, interacting with people plays a significant role in people’s daily lives in many places where they work or play. Some people think that people obtains more benefits by traveling in their own country, while others do not. Both sides may have their reasons to support their views. If I had to choose one, I would say that it is better to travel a variety of countries than domestic travel. There are several reasons as follows.
To begin with, when people travel abroad, they can learn how to mingle well with friends from different cultures. It exposes them to different lifestyles, customs, and cultures. This trend is likely to acknowledge a diversity of values exist. For instance, when I was in a middle school, I met a friend from India eating his meals with bare hand. I felt very awkward, and I could not cannot understand his behavior. However, after I traveled a few countries including India, I realized that we just had a different eating style. I recognized their cultural features, and interacted with my classmate from India by acknowledging him. As a result, I always respect other cultures and do not ignore people who come from other countries. Without this experience, I would have condemned their behavior and ignored them.
On top of that, people who usually travel the world can improve their academic performance, especially in foreign language class. Traveling the world exposes people to have more chance to acquire native language. When such exposures are sufficient, people tend to learn language faster than others. For instance, Stanford University found a tremendous difference between two groups of students. One was made up of those who often traveled around the world, and the other was comprised of those who were usually having a domestic trip. The researcher found that the first group was more likely to get better scores on foreign language test. The first group was likely to acquire language easily, use appropriately, and have more interests. On the other hand, the other group tended to have ing a less motivation, feel bored, and be uncomfortable with studying language. This indicates that traveling the world can be more beneficial than domestic travel.
All things considered, I firmly believe that traveling the world can be beneficial to people in making a new friends from different cultures and studying foreign language. All in all, this trend will continue and pass down to the next generations.
