It is debatable whether people learn things better from
those at their own level or those at a higher level. This is an intriguing
question because opinions concerning this can be different relying on
individual perspectives. In my opinion, however, I disagree with the statement
for the following subsequent two reasons.
To begin with, people
would be limited in their development of knowledge if they learn from people
who are similar to them. This is because people at the same age or course would
be exposed to a similar amount of information, so they would become to have nearly
the same knowledge. Therefore, they could not get benefits from each other
since they discuss by using limited resources, they would not be able to
develop themselves anymore. There would not be a new knowledge in this group,
so they would be limited to understand their already existing knowledge. For
example, when I prepared for a science exam, I found that razor theory was too
hard for me to understand. Accordingly, I asked this to my friend, Jihan.
However, he also had a hard time to make me understood this theory. Then, I
asked for help to my professor, his clear explanation made me understood fully
because he used a new notion that I and my friend did not know before. After
that happened, I realized that it is more helpful to ask for help to people who
are in a higher position.
On top of that,
people could learn better from those at a higher position than the same one
because each of them has an ability that matches with their position.
Supervisors, for example, they achieved to promote to a higher status in the
company even though there is so much competition in our society. This was
because they excelled at a specific filed more than other people. Therefore,
they would have more information than people like us, we could learn a lot from
them. For instance, my brother is in a comany, Samsung Electronics. He is the
chief of his team, and whenever there is some trouble in his group, he always
asks his supervisor about how to solve this problem. He told me that he
initially handle this with the help of co-workers, However, they could not
offer a proper solution. After the first failure, he can deal with his group by
asking for advice to his supervisor.
In a nutshell, there
would be a limitation of information among similar people. Moreover, a higher
position of people would offer more information than similar people. In this
regard, I strongly believe that people can learn things better from those at a
higher level like teachers or supervisors.
