It becomes an interesting issue among people whether television has destroyed communication of friends and family. I agree with it because people tend to spend too much time to watch TV instead of talking with friends and family. Moreover, television negatively influences one’ personality. To illustrate why I convince my point, I treat only a few significant reasons with vivid examples here.
First of all, people lose chances to get along or talk with their friends or family because of television. Even though family members watch TV together in the same space, they just watch TV without communication each other. According to the research conducted by Seoul National University in 2009 in Korea, more than 70 percent respondents answer that they spend 2 hours a day averagely, while they only talk with their family less than 30 minutes a day. Not until I read this report did I recognize the negative effects of TV. In this sense, TV is one of the biggest obstacles to communicate among people.
Secondly, TV can change people’s personality easily, especially young children. Someone who watches violent programs through TV can easily lose their temper and shows aggressive attitude compare to others who watch TV less. For instance, a boy who was one of my students in my class was into watching action drama among TV programs. He was getting aggressive to other classmates as time goes by. The counselor found that he watched the action drama for about 5 hours a day and sometimes he did not sleep to watch it. He could not control himself and confuse between the action drama and the reality. In this regards, TV destroies people's communication.
In conclusion, I have no choice but to agree that television ruins communication of friends and family. The reason why I support this idea is because not only it drives the chances to talk from people, but also it has a negative influence on personality of people. |
