There is an argument over whether it is when in conflict, financially struggling school districts should offer classes in music rather than visual art. As far as I concerned, I am in complete agreement with this argument because it provides efficiency of study and matches well restricted class.
To begin with, offering music classes boosts study efficiency. This is due to the fact that students would intimate feeling with their classmates by singing a song toghether at a music class. This trand can create stable and healthy class where most of students are able to concentrate on their studies easily. Therefore taking music class raise study efficiency. According to the ministry of Education of Korea in 2011, after a movement, which Korean government encouraged schools especially suffered from financially to take music classes rather than visual arts,a number of schools have more positive class atmosphere than before. The study showed that changed class healthier lead students to study more easily and concentrate well. This implies that taking music class has a direct correlation with raised study efficiency.
On top of that, music class also suitable courses at school where have restricted time class schedule. Most of school have time restriction that they tend to divide courses such as math, language per week. If some school adapt visual art classes, they would waste time and money. This is because art class requires student to prepare sketchbooks, pen, colors etc to draw one picture. Compared to art class, music class just need to people who sing a song and basic instruments which have most of schools have piano. To illustrate this point, when I was an elementary school student, I had to take music, art classes since these subjects are required courses. I and my friends enjoied music class since just sing a song and through this procedure I was able to get along with them. We were tapping on the desk to match rhythem and song toghether felt with joy. However, in art class, we just made 2 or 3 pieces of art spenting one semester and spent lot of money to prepare drawing tool. This proves that offering music class can benefit for students and school saving money and time.
In brief, although there are many people who prefer to take visual art class than music class, I personally believe that the advantages of music class far outweigh those of visual art class. All in all, offering music class cannot be underestimated in study efficiency and fit class at restricted class. |
