▶ Your Answer :
Various opinions may exist over whether
having ability to adapt to changing conditions or circumstances is more
important than having excellent knowledge of a field for success in school or
work. As far as I am concerned, I am in complete disagreement with the
argument. The two ideas can be sufficient evidence to support my disagreement.
My first argument for having excellent
knowledge of a field for success in school or work should be espoused. This is
because it helps us to be well-informed for success in school or work. While we
grow up, we are exposed to certain types of the information and knowledge about
the world, through education at work as well as at school. The problem with
this is that most of the information and knowledge is conveyed from one
source's particular viewpoint. Given this, in order to be well-informed, we try
to learn about different viewpoints from information through excellent
knowledge of a field. In my case, I acquired information about space
exploration by taking society class at university. Due to the class, I came to
be fully exposed to the great achievements of governmental space projects.
However, my perspectives on these governmental space projects could not be
solely positive when I knew the difficulty of exploring space and huge budgets
involved through doing my class assignments. Without these excellent knowledge
of a field, I might have held a slanted view of what was going around me.
Moreover, my strong support for broad
knowledge of a field for success in school or work can be rationalized. This is
attributed to the fact that it can allow us to get the latest information. Our
world is evolving at a surprising speed. As a result, we may have difficulty
understanding all of the changes and new events come about. Given this context,
it is important that we try to keep current by learning changes and events
through having excellent knowledge of a field. In a recent survey carried out
by Harvard University, nearly two thirds of respondents felt that they could
update their knowledge and successfully adjust themselves to the changing
environments through having excellent knowledge of a field. According to the
respondents, these broad knowledge prevented them from being confined to an
outdated world. It is no surprise that there has recently been a drastic
increase in the number of people who have excellent knowledge of a field to
gain the latest knowledge of the world.
In conclusion, it is undeniable that people
can become well-rounded and successful by having excellent knowledge of a
field. By doing so, they can also avoid becoming biased and outdated for their
success at work as well as in school. These two reasons both connect to our
increasing need to completely succeed in school or work. |
