Q. Do you
agree or disagree with the following statement? Schools
should ask student to evaluate their teachers. Use specific reasons and
examples to support your opinion.
A.
As society develops, many issues arise regarding our lives and rise
heated debate among people. One such I issue that arouses our interest is
whether schools should ask student to evaluate their teachers. People from
different walks of life may take different stances on this contentious issue.
Personally, I agree with the given statement. There are several reasons that
could validate my position, but in this essay I will introduce two of them as
follows.
First of all, it is advantageous for teacher to receive grades by
students. The reason is that they can have the new and fresh stimulation to
teach more and harder. For instance, my brother’s school used to adopt the
grading system by students, so his teacher, Eugene had more opportunities to
have the new motivation. Therefore, Eugene had willingness to challenge against
any difficulty although teaching was hard, which helped him show the impressive
performances in almost every given classes. This made him live a better life.
On the other hand, my sister’s school did not have the teacher evaluation
system by students, so her teacher was not successful eventually because her
teacher did not have chances to receive the new simulation and showed the good posture.
If her teacher received grades by students, her teacher would have a better
life. In short, evaluating teachers by students should be requested by school
and it is beneficial for teachers.
In the second place, it is for worthy for not only teachers but also
students. The ground is that students can think what they want to teachers and express
their opinion through estimation.
Heavy workloads often exhaust students. Sometimes they feel
disappointed at poor grades. As a result students often lose their confidence.
In this case, teachers who are on good terms with the students can encourage
them to overcome such difficulties. Take my experience as an example. After my first
year of high school, I started losing my grip on math and my confidence to
succeed in the subject. My friends tried to encourage me, but their efforts did
not help at all. Then, someday, I estimated my previous teacher of math class on
paper and wrote of my trouble. My new teacher read that and lent me a helping
hand. With a good sense of humor and gentle personality, he was popular among
students and respected by them. He listened to my problem and offered me word
of encouragement. I was deeply moved by his kindness and took courage from his
advice. As a result, my grades greatly improved in the next semester. Without
his words of encouragement, I could not have overcome the difficulty successfully.
All in all, due to the reasons mentioned above, I firmly believe that the
evaluation about teachers have to be estimated by their student. So, Schools
must request that to their students.
