▶ Your Answer :
I strongly think that students should
learn various knowledge and subjects at in a school. Although this seems
apparent to me, this might not be the case for others. I will use the points of
sociability and productivity to
illustrate my thought in the topic at hand.
First of all, learning comprehensive
knowledge can allow student to broaden their horizon. It is obvious that they
may learn about a variety of subjects like history, literature and music, and
this can expose them to different worlds of lifestyles, basic custom, and
cultures. Through this experience, the can learn to embrace diversity. For
example, when I had a part-time job, there was an Ethiopian girl who brought
home-cooked meals for lunch. It smelled funny, and she ate with her hands
without using utensils. Other students who had never learned such a scene kept
their distance from her. On the other hand, being educated on Africa and
African table manners through ‘world culture seminar’ class, I was perfectly
understanding and comfortable with what was taking place.
In addition, joy of knowing a
plenty of things can encourage students to study with more passion.
This is attributed to the fact that if can serve as one of the key motivators
for them to perform better and to improve themselves. With such motivation,
they will put in more effort, concentrate better on their tasks, and feel a
stronger sense of responsibility for their work. According to a study conducted
by the Ministry of Education in 2009, there was a huge difference between two
groups of students in relation to their rates of achievement. Students in Group
A learned a lot of subjects and those in Group B did not. The researcher showed
that the former group spent 25% more number of hours on studying and performed
higher than the latter group. In particular, the students in Group A followed
instructions, submitted assignments on time, and participated actively in class
discussions. In the other hand, those in Group B dozed off in class and lacked
focus while working. It can be inferred that learning various
knowledge from school has a direct correlation with the amount of effort
and every that students invest in studying.
To sum up, the importance of my view
cannot be underestimated in that it can kill two birds with one stone for the
reasons I have mentioned above. All in all, I believe this trend will probably
continue for the next generation.
