In
modern days, some people argue that the extended family is more important in
nowadays. However, I strongly believe that the extended family is less
important now than the past for two reasons. The reasons are that the roles the
extended family had, which are giving wise advice and helping when it’s needed,
is less important in nowadays.
At
first, one of the roles that the extended family did in the past is that they
gave wise advice to family members. Grandparents, older cousins, and aunts were
always cheerful and helpful in order to live life for people. They often gave
wise insight about life so people behaved better and became wiser in many ways.
However, the world has changed rapidly in these days. New information is
brought to people daily and new business succeeded in new ways frequently.
Therefore, not only people have to adapt to the fast paced changing world by
massive effort but also they have to drop old thoughts quickly as well in order
to be creative and survive in this highly competitive society. For this reason,
giving effort to adapt the rapidly changing society is more important than
getting wise advice from the extended family. This leads to my point that the
extended family is less important in nowadays. According to the survey
conducted by Seoul National University, they asked people in 50’s and 20’s to
find the difference. 75 percent of people in 50’s, when they were asked what
will make them wiser person, answered that learning life experience from older
people, especially their family, is important. However, 80 percent of people in
20’s said that learning knowledge from variety sources is the most important
factor in order to become wiser person. Like this survey shows, the world has
changed so that getting an advice from the extended family is less important in
nowadays.
Secondly,
another role that the extended family had in the past is that giving help to
other family members when help is needed. However, it is unnecessary to get
help from the extended family in recent days. In modern days, social system,
government, and business have developed dramatically that if people pay some
money, they can do many things without asking help to their family members. To
give an example, I always heard from my father that when he wanted to fix his
old house, his whole family came to help his duty. One time, the house’s window
was broken by strong winds. The whole family showed up to his house and helped
to fix the window. However, in modern days, when I had a problem with my car, I
didn’t need my family’s help. All I had to do was to call my insurance company
to fix my car. Despite I paid fee for it, it was much convenient and faster.
Like my personal experience shows, the importance of the extended family has
decreased in recent days.
For those reasons I mentioned earlier,
I strongly believe that the importance of extended family has decreased in
modern days. 시간은 5분 남았습니다. ^^ 좋은 첨삭 부탁드려요 |
