▶ Your Answer :
There are many ways of complaining; writing
an e-mail or a letter, posting on bulletins, telling in person, etc. Among
them, I suppose writing is better than talking directly. Writing would make the
unsatisfied person calm down, and convey what he means successfully. And if the
receiver read it, instead of listening to it, he might also be able to
understand it more effectively.
To
begin with, if one writes what he thinks, he becomes more deliberate and
tranquilized. Since he should prepare for a long time to select ideas and
appropriate words, he gets less sentimental and more objective. This helps the
writer to reduce misses transporting his ideas. Even if the writing consist of
complaints, the writer and the reader would be less likely to conflict. Then
problems would be solved with less effort. For example, when I wanted my band
colleagues not to do something that irritates me, I decided to write letters to
them rather than directly talking to them. I thought that if we discussed the
problem face-to-face, we possibly might have had a conflict.
Additionally,
since complaining typically includes many details to improve, the receiver can
understand the idea more easily, if it is written down. Reading takes more time
than hearing, so the person who gets the letter may also calm down. He can stop
to think about important details included, instead of getting angry when they
are criticized. Fully understanding the complaints and becoming willingly to
reflect them would help the problems repaired in much more convenience. To
illustrate, when I worked as a part-time worker, I happened to receive telephone
calls. Most of them were complaints, and I was fully stressed out by just
listening to the angry callers. This interrupted me to concentrate on the
details.
In conclusion, I don’t think complaining in person
is better than in writing. Instead, writing has more benefits, especially for
saying drawbacks about something. One who complains can be more deliberate
during writing. Also, the person who reads it could be more focused, and it
would be easier for him to reflect the suggestions. |
