Some people might argue that exams make students more stressed out. However, contrary to this idea, I strongly believe that it will be better for students to take exams. The fundamental reason behind this is that taking exams helps students to keep a longer memory and to improve their learning efficiency.
First of all, knowledge from preparing exams is more memorable. This is because preparing exams should require studnets to use all five senses ranging from sight to touch, which activate not only a brain but also a body. Thus, such a lively experience remains etched in mind. According to the research conducted by Seoul National University in 2012, two groups of students showed the difference in academic achievement. Students in group A learned science to prepare test, but those in group B learned it without any obligation. The result shoew that the former group spent their time stutying and higher perfomed than the latter group, and especially, they participated in learning more enthusiastically. In contrast, the latter group showed distractive behaviors varying from doodling to dozing off.
Moreover, taking exams encourage students to learning efficiency. An important reason is that exams will help students to concontrate on learning better. Preparing the test provides students with some tension, which is helpful for students` learning efficiency. From my experience, my brother used to be negligent for his learning. However, through preparing the test, he completed given assignments and enthusiastically study. Thus, my brother could get good grades in his classes.
In conclusion, without any doubt, I am convinced that it is helpful for students to take exams in academic learning. This is because it promotes students to memorize information and increase learning motivation. |
