These days, many people believe that salary is the most reasonable criteria in judging whether someone is successful in his/her career. People also tend to think that the amount of money one earns through his or her job directly leads to their happiness. However, making lots of money is not a prerequisite prior to one’s happy life. Feeling happiness and fulfillment with a job is much more important in human’s life than the high salary, because it ensures work efficiency, as well as people’s genuine quality of life.
To start with, in a pragmatic sense, being happy with one’s job is the most efficient shortcut to heightened work productivity. There is an old saying that “Those who exert painstaking effort cannot keep track of those who enjoy it.” Just like this maxim tells us, enjoying and feeling happy and fulfilled with a job can reap benefits of high productivity and efficiency. To illustrate this point, I worked as a reporter in campus magazine. At first when I was seriously stressed out to write a well-organized article, I could not get any positive feedback. However, as time goes by I could learn the way to choose topics that I can enjoy during my writing process. Then, I could get many positive feedbacks on my articles, even though my crying and staying-up-all-night could be stopped.
Also, being happy with one’s job can greatly improve one’s quality of life, which cannot be attained through depositing more money. Since quality of life in genuine sense is not what can be achieved only through materially affluent life, feeling happiness and satisfaction which can fill one’s life with joy and fruitful days are much more important than getting high salaries from a job. There are many people nowadays who suddenly abandon their established and successful career and start humble work. The reason of this would be that they discovered meaning in their life in a new work which is incredibly valuable, and cannot be compared to huge material reward they got previously. Likewise, there are numerous priceless values and meanings in life, other than money.
In conclusion, I strongly believe that feeling happiness from one’s career is much more important than getting a high salary. Since people who feel satisfied and happy with their job would be productive and efficient, as well as those whose quality of life is very high, it is assumable that their faces would be full of radiance of happiness and love towards themselves.
