▶ Your Answer : Some people say that teachers should be paid according to their students' performance. However, I disagree with this statement because it is unfair and it fosters atmosphere of competition and distrust among teachers. First of all, if teachers are paid according to their students' performance, it is very unfair system. This is because teachers don't have equivalent subjects and students. Some courses are harder than others, of course, some students are better than others. For example, in geometry class, many students could not keep up, but it is not teacher's fault. It just because this subject is difficult. However, in physical education class, most students understand well and do it well. In this case, those subjects' teachers stand unfair situation. Second of all, teachers foster atmosphere of competition and distrust among teachers. It makes teachers work for their own benefit. Also, they distract from duties. For example, according to study, school system's policy of pay based on student performance led to disharmony among teachers. Teachers who had more qualifications and experience became angry when newer teachers got larger pay raises because their students happened to be doing well. In conclusion, policy of pay based on student performance makes disharmony between teachers. For these reasons, I disagree with this statement that teachers should be paid according to their students' performance. |
