Some argue that eating out is better than having homemade
food due to its convenience and efficiency. However, in my opinion, it is
obvious that eating home cooked food is much better than eating out at restaurants
or food stands. That is, homemade dishes are nutritious than restaurant meals
and it is cost effective to cook at home.
The first and the foremost reason why homemade dishes
are better is that it is much more nutritious and safe. When people cook food themselves,
usually the ingredients are chosen carefully not to include unhealthy sources
and choose fresh and nutrient ones. On contrary, dishes in the restaurants care
less about such aspect and focus more on the taste of the dishes to increase
the sales. Therefore, the cook can put in too much spices or include ingredients
that flavors the taste that might be unhealthy to some people. For example, I
saw a recent documentary on eating out. Many restaurant food were tested what
ingredients they included in the show. Surprisingly, 80% of restaurant had MSG
in their dishes, which could harm people’s health severely. In this regard, it
is clear to me that homemade food is the healthy choice.
Another equally important reason is that cooking at home
cost less than eating out. That is, the prices of dishes in restaurants usually
include extra charges such as tax and service fees people do not have to pay if
they cook themselves at home. Therefore, it is cost-effective to eat at home.
For example, it costs less than 2000 won to eat Kimchi-fried rice at home because
all the ingredients I need are Kimchi and some rice. However, it costs more
than 6000 won to eat the same dish at restaurants. In this sense, it is better
to eat at home.
To sum up, advantages of cooking meals at home
outweigh those of eating out because homemade food is healthier and safer, and
it is good way to save food expenses.
