▶ Your Answer : There is a controversial issue regarding whether classmates have a bigger effect on a student’s grade than teacher or not. Two different opinions exist in regard to this issue, but after taking into consideration of the idea from several perspectives, I side with the idea that classmates have a bigger effect on a student’s academic achievement. To start the argument, studying with classmates enables students to improve their academic achievement. This is because students are positively influenced by classmate’s achievement. Students hope that they could outdo others in a competitive world. My experience could be a great example. When I compete with my friend to get better grade. I could complete my work efficiently and accurately, because a competition in good faith will encourage the development of both people. This shows that students can get a lot of benefits from competition between both people. On top of that, students can see different perspectives by studying with fellow classmates. The reason is they can share their academic materials, and they can question about what they don’t know. Students can learn more effectively by answering the question. For example, a research conducted by a renowned research center in Korea have shown that more than 68 percent of students surveyed reported that peers motivated them to study. Furthermore, the respondents noted that competition played a key role in their motivation, This research shown that teamwork would benefit to student’s academic achievement greatly. As a result, many students agreed to recommended this method to others in order to study more effectively. To conclude, I strongly believe that my standpoints of two reasons are sufficiently convincing. The first is, competition encourage student to study more. The second is, students can share their perspectives. In this regard, I believe that classmates have a bigger effect on a student’s academic achievement than teachers do. |
