▶ Your Answer :It is not hard to find
adolescences working part-time jobs nowadays. A big chunk of the population
might think that adults should ban young people from working during attending
schools since it disturbs them to focus on studying. However, in my view,
although working makes students more tired physically, without doubt, the
experiences from working during teenage years are worthwhile to endure for two
major reasons; the sense of responsibility and the value of money. To begin with, the
primary reason is that young people can improve the sense of responsibilities
during working. Engaging in a position requires a great amount of
responsibility, ranging from arriving work on time to keeping given deadline. Furthermore,
the ability related to the responsibility learning from working, such as
managing time, and patience, helps students in their studying. According to a
research from the Ministry of Education in Korea in 2007, it shows that the
students who are working or had worked outperformed others who have never
worked in the nationwide scholastic achievement test. After closer observation toward
how they could outdo their peers, the researchers concluded that they are much
better in using their time effectively and concentrating during the class. It
implies that students can equip themselves with the skills which are conducive
to studying through working.
Next, the other significant
reason is that working experiences give teenagers a valuable lesson of the
value of money. This is evident that most part-time jobs which young people
usually engage in do not give them a great amount of money, and require quiet
demanding working both physically and mentally. For example, when I was
sophomore, I engaged in waiter in a Korean restaurant. At that time, although I
earned just four dollars per an hour, I needed to stand during working and have
a smile even while handling some rude customers who talked down to me at all
times. From the experiences while working, I could realize how difficult to
earn money and spent money carefully.
As a result of mulling
over the query, whether working during teenage years is helpful or not, I
finally have come to grasp that it plays a pivotal role of developing the sense
of responsibility and the valuable economic lesson. I strongly feel that the precious
lessons learning from working cannot be derived from the class. |
