▶ Your Answer : Usually universities do not require ethics classes to their students, emphasizing on practical academic subjects. Personally I believe that now it is time when educational institutions should be aware of the urgent importance of morality and require all their students to take classes on ethics. The first reason for supporting the ethics class in the university is that it will help reduce the increasing social crime rates. Apart from a recent shooting incidents at an elementary school as well as high schools and universities, most of people know that serious crimes have been growing all over the country. Ironically, the rates of the highly educated and enrolled in universities have been also steadily increasing thanks to governmental funding aids and affluent life. And then, what will be the main reason that the crime rates have increased exponentially in the abundant educated society? It may be the education system that has focused only on knowledge. Now if universities are aware of the relationship with two increased rates and realize the importance of ethics in their programs and start to educate students, it will help increase well-rounded personalities and form a peaceful society with less criminals. Another reason that universities should require students to take classes on ethics is that it will help reinforce the sense of moral. One of the most significant reasons for committing crimes, hurting others, and confusing an orderly society can be blamed for a lack of morality and humanity around the places. Putting it differently, the paralyzed morality can lead to selfishness and disrespect sociopaths. When considering most of the serious perpetuators and criminals are allegedly young adults, it is no doubt that the required ethics class will play an important role in reinforcing the paralyzed moral senses. In conclusion, it is better for universities to require students to take ethics classes rather than focusing only on academic issues. It will help to reduce serious social problems and increase safety by reinforcing a sense of morality. |
