Some people say that TVs are just as good source of information as books. However, I strongly believe that books are more capable of making people more wise and smart. Since video formed information is not detailed as much as books do. In addition to this, one can preserve books over a multiple of decades, a attribute that made books more affective media of information throughout time.
To start with, I think books are more capable of conveying information, because video formed information is not detailed as books. Since books are formed in myriad of words, so the information in contains are elevated, which enables books to portray details that TV programs can't immitate. For example, a famous lecture 'What Is Justice?' conducted by Michael Sandel, who is a professor in Harvard University, contains less specified information than published edition of same lecture. When I read that book, What Is Justice, illustrating many cases, examples, and persuasive argument, I got the impression that books are genuinely capable of conveying specific details than the video lecture version does.
Secondly, people can learn more because one can preserve books for many years. Video formed information is relativey hard to convey generation to generation because of the machines that used in playing video is chainging due to an advancing technology. One can't guarantee that some DVD of documentary one had once bought can be endowed generation to generation, because there is a possibility of DVDs will be obsolete, and forgotten. However, books have existed over a few thousands years and will exist henceforth. Therefore One can pass books generation to generation, provided condition of books is fine. For example, I'm going to show my kid my first english book, Harry potter. I read Harry potter in english when I was 13 years old. So I'm planning to offer the same experience to my kid, just as I had.
In summary, many people may consider books are obsolete and boring. However, as shown in above assertion, I think it is books that can more effectively convey informations, not television. | |
