▶ Your Answer : Some people believe that it is more important for students to learn facts. There are obviously many opinions regarding this topic, but it is clear that understanding principles is more beneficial. The concepts of score and application in life clearly show this theme.
First of all, understanding concepts is the best way to get good grade when it comes to mathematics. In mathematics, there are many problems stemmed from one principle. Many students tried to remind only a solution without figuring out concepts and could not solve on time. Those got worse grade than students understanding concepts got. For example, when I was in high school, I was in the middle term. In this period, I should study in mathematics and study with my friend who likely to remember answer but not concept. He always suggested me to record only answer. However, I was not good at reminding answer and studied principle of problem. Consequently, we took the mathmatics exam. I got a better grade than he got in mathematics, which makes me enter a university with scholarship. If I followed his style in that moment, I could have gotten scholarship.
In addition, Principles improve us more creative. Everyone knows some facts but it is very difficult to apply in life. This is mainly because there is no akin subjective to apply in reality when you need something. For instance, my brother, a captain in military camp, went camping with me on riverside. We brought some food required to fire and was about to set a fire in order to cook. My brother and I recognized that we forgot bringing lighter. However, my brother made fire using plastic bag with water. He told me that water lens can concentrate sunlight such like glasses. He also claimed to me that obsession with setting a fire only by reflecting lense would not let me apply in appropriate time.
In conclusion, it seems to me that focusing on basic principle is more beneficial. The example of score and creativity support the argument.
